TigerCon, Voldasta, GA first anime 2-day anime convention, was held on April 14th-16th at the Holiday and Comfort Inn hotels in Voldasta, GA. New to the convention scene, TigerCon Their name and origins trace back to the Moody Comics and Anime Club on Moody Air Force Base. Moody AFB is the home of the Flying Tigers, and while their convention is not officially connected with the Air Force, they selected the name "Tiger Con" to reflect their origins as a base club. The weekend was short, but fairly well organized for a first-year convention. Although they were small, TigerCon held a cosplay contest, peachy maid cafe, had a live band perform over the 2-day weekend as well as had a few prominent voice actors such as Richard Epcar and Alexis Tipton, cosplay guests and comic book artists.
I attended as an artist and sponsor for their cosplay contest. Not gonna lie - my sales for the weekend heavily dictate my view for a “good con.” I took a chance with TigerCon. Their table was only $45 for the weekend and it was a 3.5 hr drive from the city. I figured if I couldn’t make both table cost and gas back then I wasn’t going to return for another year. Fortunately, I was wrong and made more than just table and gas over the weekend. TigerCon and an estimated 300 attendees on their first day and maybe another 20-30 on their second day. A storm came through on Sunday and it doesn’t matter what con you attend, no one wants to come out in full cosplay in bad weather. Sunday was definitely slower and the venue was mostly empty before 5pm, but overall TigerCon is definitely not a con to sleep on.

If you're in the Voldasta area or nearby definitely check them out! Everybody wants to attend the huge cons like DragonCon, Comic Con and others, but some of the best conventions are the new, smaller ones that put emphasis on bringing the cosplay and comic fans together to enjoy a weekend of geeking out, cosplaying and having fun!
