I, as much as the next person, love a big ass boardgame with a whole bunch of people sat round, doing normal people things like talking and laughing and (for me, less often) winning. Hunkering down for a couple hours and going tete a tete with your bezzies/arch rivals can be a hugely rewarding way to spend your time. But what happens if all your friends are busy/not interested in boardgames/non existent?
Your only option then is to give up on the tabletop experience and fire up the computer, right? Well actually, no. You could try your hand at one of the myriad solo board games out there, wave goodbye to your boardgame celibacy and show your friends that you don’t even need them anyway so there!
There’s a wonderful array of exclusively single player board games out there, so to help you dip your toes and ease yourself into the warming waters of lone wolf gaming, check out these gems:

Kicking off is the challenging yet equally addictive ‘Friday’. Based on Robinson Crusoe, you play as the good man Friday, exploring the island and fighting off the pirates. Elements of push your luck, deck building and strategy make this easy to learn card game incredibly replayable.

Secondly we have Space Hulk: Death Angel. Set in the familiarly dark and rich universe of Warhammer 40K, you play as a team of Terminator Marines fighting your way through hordes of fierce and ferocious alien swarms. Tense action, difficult choices and clever mechanics keep you playing, even when facing your inevitable demise against overwhelming odds and insurmountable challenges. This game has the advantage of hosting up to 6 players so you won't be limited to playing by yourself with this game. Unless you have noone else....

Thirdly we present to you Tiny Epic Western. Component quality alone will have you purring like a kitten - the flavoursome theme and well balanced gameplay will push you over the edge! Take to saloons, the sheriff's office, the casino and more in this part poker, part worker placement part dueling boardgame, all of which fits into a small box ready for action at the drop of a hat! Yeehaa!
There you go.
