Haven't done a break it down for a while, and I been wanting to do one for my pokemon canvas prints which I did sell a few on ebay a few years ago. The idea behind it was to keep it super simple, and each canvas to have the same overall style and look but with the different characters and colours so they would be a nice little collection.

As you can imagine they start off with the official pokemon drawings that I found on the interwebs. For the example I will be using Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard. (I put them together here but when editing them I do them individually)

Next I make sure to take out the background and darken the image so its 100% black, and only the silhouette of the pokemon is shown.

Next in my favourite bit of the process (if you have seen my other break it downs) where I take an image and put it through my computer process and it merges man and machine style. This always gives a super clean and crisp edge and puts a lovely twist and style on each image.

Now we start putting the image together, as you can see I wanted them to fit in each other, so it gives the impression of Charmander growing into Charizard.

Here I added avery slight fade to the white because I just thought the plain white was just too strong. Again it also gives the impression (at least for me) that the background is growing, from a dark colour to a lighter one.

At this point I knew I wanted to add a bit of colour to each of the Pokemon Canvas art I wanted to create, so I thought having a very slight colour that matches the pokemon, and in Charmanders case that was going to bed red.

A bit of internal framing to draw the eye in. Like the white I just thought it was too plain and the line I don't think really takes away from the overall image.

I did experiment a few different versions where I changed the black to pure red or maybe just Charmander being in red and the rest white and black, but felt it didn't blend as much. So I started playing around with a fade again. What I found worked best was having the red originally start at the flame tail where charmander is.

Finally we have the final bit of artwork. As you can see I also wanted to name all the Charmander evolutions but didn't want to clutter it with letters, so much like the Scott Summers art I did I thought just adding the Pokemon pokedex numbers would be just enough to identify who they were.

Overall I thought the canvas print came out pretty good. Looking back I thought of maybe changing the board a bit, but will leave it for now unless I want to sell them again on ebay.
I also mentioned I created a few other pokemon pieces in the same style, some were requests from a Facebook Pokemon group, and others just from friends who wanted me to do their favourite pokemon.
Finally here is a final image I did in the same style for a guy who wanted to have it done for their gym, he loves the hulk and wanted something in a similar style but with his colours.

If you like my art and you did fancy getting yourself one I would be more than happy to sort out a price, sadly it would only be for UK delivery but I guess I could look into overseas.
