So over the years I have done bits of work for fun. When I was around 20 I used to Ink where as my friend used to do the pencils. About a month ago I was thinking back at this time and thought if I still had the same skills, plus improve on them with my extended knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.

I first wanted a really cool image to ink and possibly even colour (but in a very simple way, wanted the ink to be the main focus) I came across the first image, you can find a link to his Deviant Art page here.

The next step was to ink the image, pretty straight forward.

When you Ink a drawing, the artist already adds to the style, its simply the way each artist holds the pen and the shading. However I wanted to see if I could extend this and put the image through Adobe Illustrator.

I really love how this came out, the program messes up some of the lines from my inking but in a way I think works. Next step is to add a tiny bit of colour.

As you can see the image is far too dark, so I wanted to lighten it up in parts.

With the addition of purple I think its starting to feel more like Venom, and with a hint of glow from the black starts to add a bit more depth.

At this point I thought something was missing, so I just added white on the spider symbol, eyes and mouth. I was thinking maybe adding red but didn't want it to distract too much from the inking (which was the whole point of this image). I also added a spiderweb because...why not, look cool.

Finally I add a black border with a bit of a texture, and that also affects all the blacks in the image.

Hopefully you really like how it came out as much as I did, and for an additional little taste, why not have a look at the cool Venom trailer.

Let's hope it's a good one.
